Hello all .....
I'll let you into a little secret... this weeks' creation did not go to plan lol!
I started to make a shaker card with this pretty panel die, however I’m not going to lie, shaker cards are my nemesis.
I actually stuck it all together, and forgot to put the shaker beads inside :-( honestly lol
My rescue attempt failed so in the bin it went
So my challenge to you all this week..... make me a shaker card and share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.
So here's how to make this wonderful floral panel window card
Step 1
▪️I selected the mats for my machine; I used the bottom cutting plate, along with the metal shim and the plastic shim, plus the magnetic sheet.
▪️Placing my Cosmos Floral Panel on top, I added some waxed paper (wax side down) and then a sheet of Heritage Green Elite Card.
✅ TOP TIP - I do this when working with all my intricate dies
📝 NOTE - I've used this wax diecut 4 times now. I just carefully tuck it in the folder with the die.
Now you have your Heritage Green background (see below 📸), stick the panel to some acetate
📝 NOTE - I just put a spot of Jamie’s glue on the back of the flowers and around the frame.
Trim off the excess acetate from around the edges.
Step 2
▪️Taking an 8x8 white card blank, I placed the plain square die onto the front panel and adhered with low tack tape (sticking it more to the centre panels).
▪️Then cut it to the card fold, and then reverse out so you don’t damage the card back.
⛔️ NOTE - No metal or card shims in this cut !
Other Low Tack Tape Options Include :-
▪️Now stick the panel on the inside front of this frame (as seen in Picture 2 📸 )
▪️Next take the above nesting die set - select the second largest of each and from the Plain Square Die Set selectthe 6th one down.
▪️Cut this out in Potion Purple Elite Card 3 times (again no shims).
✅ TOP TIP - I find that if you use too many shims here with the frames and large squares, your card ripples.
Step 3
Now glue the purple frames onto the card front, then behind the panel, and then on the back panel
(as seen on Picture 3 📸 ).
Next cut out two of each of the following colours for your Cosmos Flowers :-
Create your flower centres using scraps of Bumblebee Yellow and Sunbeam Yellow Elite Card
(as seen in the Picture 3 📸 )
Step 4
▪️As seen in Picture 4 📸 - adhere the flowers; you can be as elaborate as you want here, but I kept it simple.
▪️You also need to cut out a white panel for the little corner flowers which you just fussy-cut out.
✅ TOP TIP - On the inside, I stuck purple and white flowers to hide the clear glue spots.
▪️To finish, I cut out three "Happy Birthday" sentiments with gold mirror card which I stuck on top of each other, before adding to the card.
I just LOVE making floral cards like this....
It's hard to convey through photos the beauty of this panel and the options you have to create with it!
So.... who is up for my challenge and be the first to create that shaker card?
Happy crafting and if you have any questions, just ask in the comments or on the Group!
Until next time
Happy crafting
