Design Team ~ Jamie Rodgers Collection - Poinsettia Curtain By Ian Rump-Smith

Design Team ~ Jamie Rodgers Collection - Poinsettia Curtain By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania Blog

Happy Wednesday Crafters!

I'm officially on countdown with ONLY 6 weeks to go until Christmas....

With that in mind, I thought I'd bring our last minute crafters some more festive card ideas.

This lovely curtain design looks impressive, yet is so simple to make!

So let me show you......

Step 1

I started with a 5x7 card blank for my base.

For the background, I cut a layer in gold pearl card and made it just slightly smaller in oder to create a tiny border.

Next I took a piece of green paper and cut it to the size of 7 x 6¾ inches.

Using the above stamp set, I stamped the holly image randomly over my paper with a Norturne

Versafine Black Ink Pad.

Once finished, I used red and green alcohol pens to add colour to the holly!

Once finished I set this aside.

Step 2

Time to make the curtain.....

This is just a case of scoring and folding, so although it looks fancy, it's easy!

Here I cut a piece of Romantic Red Elite Card to measure 9¼ x 6¾ inches (just under).

TOP TIP - Make your life easy by using a scoreboard (with inch increments)

I scored at the following points - short edge against the side :-

▪️2 ½

▪️3 ¼

▪️4 ¾

▪️5 ½

▪️7

▪️7 ¾ (end piece)

Measuring 4" from the bottom of the right hand long side; cut off the bottom from that point across to the left bottom corner.

Next I folded and creased my score lines (see photo as guide 📸)

Step 3

Taking my stamped image, I cut my strips to decorate the curtain....

Here I cut four strips (as shown in my picture below 📸)

▪️2 ½ inches

▪️1 ½ inches

▪️1 ½ inches

▪️1 ½ inches

I took my time in sizing my strips for the curtain, so I had a slight border around each strip.

Lay the bigger strip onto the first panel and turn over whilst holding, and cut off the bottom.

Next I cut off small slivers from the bottom and ONE side only.

✅ Repeat this on all strips.

Using Clear Drying Glue, I adhered all my strips to the curtain.

Step 4

I next stuck down the creases on the curtain with red liner tape on the underside of the folds.

I then stuck it to my base card, using double-sided tape.

Now you can see the card really coming together :-)

Final Step

I chose these beautiful Poinsettia dies above....

📝 NOTE - These dies not only cut out your flowers, but also create a stunning debossed pattern on your petals

I passed these through my machine twice and used Romantic Red Elite Card.

I moulded the leaves a little to add shape, and then glued them together with glue.

I added a gem to the centres and then rubbed some Cosmic Shimmer Golden Treasure Gilding Polish on the smaller flowers, and Cosmic Shimmer Snow & Ice Lustre Polish on the large one.

As I wanted a strong bond and instant fix, I then used my Hot Glue Gun to adhere to the card.

For the sentiment, I used Jamie Rodgers Crafts Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set.

I stamped onto Polar White Elite Card with Nocturne Versafine Ink first, before sticking it to a piece of Raven Black Elite Card. I cut it down to size to create a small border.

Here, I used foam tape to adhere to the card and give that little dimension, which is a lovely finishing touch.

That's it..... card complete

Love a little touch if elegance.......

I do hope this has given you some inspiration to have a go yourself!

I know we always ask, but please do share your creations on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers with us. It truly does make our day to hear your feedback and see your own versions.....

Many thanks for joining me, and I can't wait to see you next week with another crafty creation.

Enjoy your week
