Design Team ~ Jamie Rodgers Collection ~ A Grungy Christmas By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania Blog

Hello Crafters…..

So I’ll let you into a little secret….

This weeks’ blog was the result of a happy accident; one of those crafting days when you are having a messy play and create something magical!!

Let me show you…..

Step 1

I started with one of Jamie Rodgers Crafts signature 8x8” Pebble Grey Card Blanks as my base.

I then cut out two mats using the above Plain Squares Die Set; one in Romantic Red and one smaller in Polar White Elite Card.

I then used Clear Drying Glue for the red mat which I then adhered to the centre of my card base.

Taking the white layer, I covered my craft desk with a plastic sheet as things are about to get messy!

Step 2

For the background I used the Elite Mister Sprays

▪️Gladiator Red

▪️Rose Petal Pink

▪️Heritage Green

Holding above your white mat, spray a little of each colour - you can add more if needed.

I let this dry and it is pretty quick!

Next, I put a drop of each colour (separately) of Cosmic Shimmer, Shimmer Paint Pearl and Tarnished Gold on my glass mat, adding a little water to each.

Mixing the pearl first, I tapped some drops onto the background and then repeated with the gold.

This is my result.

I let it dry and then using glue before attaching the layers to the card base.

Step 3

Next I cut out two trees in Polar White Elite Card using the Opulent Christmas Tree Die.

Using my plastic sheet again, I sprayed some Night Sky Navy Elite Mister over one tree to cover it entirely and then lightly sprayed Heritage Green on the other.

I then added a light rub of Gold Metallic Gilding Polish to the green tree.

Using glue, I offset the green tree slightly on top of the navy one before setting aside.

Step 4

Next I cut a piece of white card measuring approx. 3cm x 20cm

TOP TIP - I roughly tore off the top length ways to make it look like snow.

Using Pink Ink Fluffy It Paste and a palette knife, I put a coating over the white strip.

I heated the strip using my Heat Tool until it became nice and fluffy.

Something really fascinating watching it fluff up :-)

I cut the houses using the above Christmas Scene Die Set in Raven Black Elite Card.

When cutting it away from the card, I left a longer piece at the bottom so the snow could be attached.

I used red liner tape to do this.

I then stuck to the base of my card with wet glue.

I attached my tree to the bottom left side using black foam pads.

Step 5

Using my circle dies, I cut a circle for the moon and sprayed Sunbeam Yellow Elite Mister lightly over it.

I then cut the Santa and Reindeer from the Christmas Scene Die Set in black.

I glued the moon to the card and then attach Santa using foam pads.

For my sentiment I chose the “Happy Christmas” die along with gold mirror card.

I glued it to my card and circled it a round the under side of the moon.

And that folks is the card completed…..

Remember you can do any colour combinations for your Grundgy backgrounds…….

I know we always ask, but please do share your creations on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers with us.

It truly does make our day to hear your feedback and see your own versions.....

Many thanks for joining me with today’s blog and I will be back with you again soon!!!

Take Care
