Happy Wednesday Crafters......

How do you fancy seeing a bit of an old classic today with a modern twist?

Today, I'm sharing a blast from the past with shrink plastic and what a magical combination it can make with Jamie Rodgers Crafts NEW Tile Collection!!

In the day, I could never get it right, but now I have finally mastered it!!!!

Let me show you today's make, along with how I created this wallpaper effect....

Step 1

I used a cream 6x6 card base as this colour was the best colour match for this project!

I cut out one mat in silk gold card, and then a second using the next size down die in

Polar White Elite Card.

✅ TOP TIP - I highly recommend using a magnetic mat for working with stencils and blending.. makes crafting life so much easier (and quicker)

I used my Make Art Stay-tion and secured my white mat down with my stencil.

Here the stencil I used was the Jamie Rodgers Crafts - Small Ornate Tiles Stencil.

I coloured using a blending brush and Distress Oxide Ink - Lumberjack Plaid.

I wanted to create a real rich colour, so I went over the area several times to achieve this shade.

Step 2

Next I added a gorgeous pattern to each of the tiles using one of the smallest stamps from Jamie's DL Stamp Set See below 🔗

I attached it to a small Stamping Block and used it along with Brushed Gold Metallic Ink Pad.

TOP TIP - Using a clear Stamping Block helps you see where you are stamping.

I applied ink every time I stamped, to ensure I got a real crisp image each time.

Look at that shine.... just love the metallic ink pads!!!!

I used Jamie Rodgers Crafts NEW incredibly HUGE (and amazing value) double sided tape to attach the two mats to my card base.

Step 3

I cut several of the fir branches from the above die set using Heritage Green Elite Card.

Using Clear Drying Glue I stuck my cuts to the right side of my card.

I then added some red pearls to look 'create berries' on the branches.

Step 4

Time for the old school crafting now with the shrink plastic.....

I took a sheet of Sizzix White Shrink Plastic and using a Versafine Onyx Ink Pad, I stamped my images.

I chose a large image from the Ornate Patterns Stamp Set.

Before stamping, I cut out four of the same size shapes using the Nested Tiles Die Set in the plastic.

Using metallic marker pens, I then coloured in the reverse. This is optional, however I just enjoy experimenting!!

Using a stamping block, I inked up my stamp and carefully stamped on to each piece of plastic.

I let these dry for 5 minutes before the next stage.

Step 5

Now this is the fun part... it always reminds me of shrinking crisps packets in the oven as a kid lol!

Using a heat mat, I laid one piece of the stamped plastic on top, and then used my Heat Gun aiming it direct.

🚨 DO NOT hold it too close to the plastic.

It will start to shrink and curl, but don't worry it will go back into shape.

Once it had, I immediately pushed a stamping block on top of it to flatten it.

I glued a gem in the middle of each, and marked the top of each with a gold metallic marker to look like the metal hanging part. I added to my card using a foam pad.

Step 6

Now for the all important sentiment.....

Using a piece of kraft card, I stamped my sentiment from the above stamp set!

I trimmed it down to the right size, before adding some Distress Oxide Vintage Photo around the edges. Gives that perfect vintage feel.. don't you agree! I used foam pads to adhere to my card.

And that is my card is complete!

I know a lot of you love a nice classic style vintage card, so I hope you enjoyed this one and it's give you some ideas. This Collection can be used for both modern and vintage style creations which is what is magic about it!

I know we always ask, but please do share your creations on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers with us.

It truly does make our day to hear your feedback and see your own versions.....

Thanks everyone, have a fantastic crafty rest of the week, and I look forward to seeing you all next time with my next project!

Stay Warm

Take care,

Ian x
