Design Team ~ Jamie Rodgers Crafts Collection ~ Have A Slice Birthday By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania Blog

Happy Wednesday All.....

So ever since I saw the Kaleidoscope Die Set, I've had this thought in my head.... so it was time to bring it to life in the form of this super fun themed Birthday card!!

A lot of you struggle with ideas for men's cards, so have a go at this MasterPizza lol.

Ok let me show you.... slice by slice :-)

Step 1

Take an 8x8 white card blank and cut your layers to create the Italian flag background.

You will need the Plain Square Die Set - cut a layer using Raven Black Elite Card.

You will need these colours of Elite Card which you need to cut into strips (each one measuring

6 x 18.8cm)

▪️Meadow Grass Green

▪️Polar White

▪️Romantic Red

I glued the black layer onto my card base using Jamie's Clear Drying Glue before adding the strips in order of green, white and red.

Step 2

Creating Your Pizza Slices ......

I took the Kaleidoscope Die Set to cut out 8 triangles in Polar White Card, using the outer triangle dies

TOP TIP - It's great that you can do all 8 at once, however make sure that they don't move whilst passing through your machine. Use a little low tack tape if you feel more comfortable.

Now for the fun part in colouring your slices....

I used a combination of blending brushes and sponges for my colouring!

I chose Distress Oxides Inks in Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber to cover each slice.

Next, I laid down some plastic sheeting to cover my work space and took my Elite Mister in Sunbeam Yellow to spray a little over each slice.

TOP TIP - Combining the two types of ink, give you a lovely authentic finish!

I love these Misters as they dry almost instantly, meaning you don't have to wait.

The slices remind me of Tortilla Chips lol, pass the dip please lol.

I then used an orange alcohol marker and added some flicks and squiggles over the slices

(as seen in Photo below 📸)

Set these aside....

Step 3

Who Doesn't Love A Good Topping ......

So all my toppings were created using dies - no fancy cutting - just simply created using Polar White Card.

Here I used Presscut Plain Circles Die Set, along with Jamie's Plain Squares Nesting Dies.

Again I used my blending sponges and brushes.

▪️Recipe for my Olives

Distress Oxide Ink in Black Soot and smallest 2 round dies.

▪️Recipe for my Red Onions

Distress Oxide Ink in Dusty Concord and 4 smallest round dies.

📝 NOTE - I cut the biggest in half /quarter pieces

▪️Recipe for my Tomatoes

For the tomatoes, I used the same 2 larger dies which I used to create the onions

Distress Oxide Ink - Scattered Straw and Fired Brick

📝 NOTE - I also used a brown pen to mark out the core, and a white pen to add some interest.

▪️Recipe for my Mushrooms

Again... I used the same dies as the tomatoes

Using a pencil, I drew an arch type mark on each side of the circle before cutting out.

Distress Oxide Ink - Black Soot and Pumice Stone.

▪️Recipe for my Ham Pieces

I took the smallest square for this one; after colouring, I screwed them up slightly to give dimension.

Distress Oxide Ink - Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick

Step 4

Take a sheet of kraft card, I cut a large square using the dies, and glued this at an angle onto my card base using Jamie's Clear Drying Glue.

TIP - Measure the die on your base to see what size fits best.

Next added my slices to the square and used 2mm Foam Pads.

NOTE - I added just seven in the circle and then offset the eighth piece.

I added my toppings using glue on all - except for the mushrooms which I used foam pads.

✅ TOP TIP - Make it REAL - Cut some of the toppings in half so looks like they have been cut with the slices.

Now I used an old classic for the herbs, Flower Soft, but a few drops of green acrylic paint or a green pen would work too.

Step 5

For my sentiment, as I wanted something a little and quirly, I printed it out on my computer (just on this occasion).

To fit in with the style of the card, I cut out the sentiment and then layered black behind it.

For that extra dimension (and because I love using it lol) I added to my card with foam pads.

Tutto Fatto!

(And for those of you who don't speak Italian... that means "All Done"

I've had such fun with this blog, so whether you love pizza or it will inspire some other themed cards (from around the world maybe?) we'd love to see what you can create.

I think we may have started something here :-)

Now it's over to you... go have fun creating and I look forward to seeing your creations on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Thanks for checking out my blog, can't wait to be back with you next week

Take care all
