Design Team ~ Violet! By Lynn Lewis

Hello :))

So this is my first attempt and play with the John Next Door Mixed Media Plates....

I do need more practice, however I really love the outcome!!

Unfortunately, I don't have too many pictures as I simply got so engrossed in what I was doing lol.

Check out Jamie's YouTube Video Tutorial -

Step 1

I started with the Circle Frame Mixed Media Plate and placed that and card onto my stamping platform.

For this project, I chose to use one of my go-to ink pads - Wendy Vecchi's Make Art Ink Pads

So, dabbing Carnation Red on the bottom of the frame, and Tiger Lily on the top, I used my roller to smooth it out and stamped it onto the card.

I next used Francoise Read's Mezzo Stencil and rolled over that - you can just see it 📸

Step 2

I then found a stamp I wanted to use - Francoise Read's Mini Violet.

Using Distress Ink - Dusty Concord (because the Make Art Purple wouldn’t show up)

I stamped the flower head onto the plate and then printed it onto the card.

I finished using the plate here as I think I got a good effect!

Step 3

Using the same stamp, I stamped it out (as seen📸) with the Carnation Red round the outside and Tiger Lily in the middle with sunflower right in the centre.

At the same time I stamped the violet quote in black Versafine Ink.

Then I masked off the flower and did the leaved surrounding it in leaf green.

Next I coloured them in using the ink pad on a tile method with a water brush.

Step 4

I cut a 7x7 card down to 17x17 cm. then 2 pieces of card using Sue Wilson's Noble Pierced Squares Dies. These were 15½ x15½cm and 14cm x 14cm and the stamped out piece was trimmed round to 12x12 cm.

With the 15½ x 15½cm piece and the Leaf Green ink I blended all the way round the edges with a brush then using the Mezzo Stencil went round it again with the same colour ink.

Step 5

Put the card together....

I stuck some Raffia around the bit of the frame that didn’t print out as good as I would have liked (there’s always a way to cover things up lol). Then with a water brush, I just went around the circle edge at the top.

Then layered them up as seen 📸

I think I’m going to have fun with these media plates.. there's literally so much to do with them .

What have you been up to with yours?

Have a fabulous week

Take care

Lynn x
