Hello Fellow Crafters!
I hope you have been enjoying the weather, wow what a scorcher it has been....
This year I haven't sat out in it as much, as I usually would, so my tan still needs a little work lol!!
So I've had a great week helping out, in preparation for the September Festival in Great Yarmouth, by
decorating handmade crafts. I've not been alone by any means; a lot of these have also decorated by local children which is lovely and gives a real sense of community to the Event!!
Now I am sworn to secrecy and cannot give anything away, but I've had a sneak preview of the new September's 'Hand Picked by Jamie' Bundle and it is amazing - so many elements you will love, so watch this space!!
Right, so are we all ready for my final card of August.... a touch of Gold Elegance!
As always, the Shopping List for this card can be found at the bottom of the page.
Building Your Card
Start by folding a sheet of A4 Black Card in half; to do this I used a scorecard and use a Bone Folder to give it a nice clean fold.
Next, we will be using the Woodware Festive Panel Stamp (from the Bundle) three times, using three different embossing powders.
Get yourself another sheet of A4 Black Card, and emboss the stamp with your Versamark Embossing Pad. Once your Stamp is evenly covered, stamp onto the black card.
TIP - You can stamp using a stamping block or Stamping Platform. I personally like the Stamping Platform, as you can align you card and stamp in the correct position, but it also allows you to re-stamp your image in the same place, if you need more ink for example.
Now it will be hard to see the imprint at this point, but all will be revealed once you cover with Embossing Powder. Using your Heat Tool melt the powder; you will see the powder turn bright gold once it is set.
TIP - If you are new to heat embossing, the trick is to keep your Heat Tool moving and allow a little space between card to prevent discolouring / warping your card.
Repeat this process three times with Gold, White and Clear Embossing Powder.
After each one, cut the panel out close to the edge of the embossed image.
For the next step, stick each panel to some Gold Mirror Card and cut a very thin border around each one, then set these aside.
Now this is the messy (but fun) part... so please turn off fans in the room and no heavy breathing lol.
Get your card base and turn it so it is in landscape position.
Using your Double Sided Red Liner Tape, stick a length on the left and right side of the card (about 3mm in from each edge).
Before removing the backing from the tape, use your Woodware Magic Anti-Static Pad over the base lightly to help with the next step.
Now I recommend doing this one strip at a time.
Remove the backing from the tape, and sprinkle some of your Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Flakes over the sticky strip. Use a Woodware Sponge Applicator to burnish the Flakes into the tape.
Repeat this for the other side.
TIP : Put a piece of paper u see the card to catch any stray piece and tip back into the pot.
Next we need to stick the panels onto the card.
I used Black Foam Tape for the gold and white panels, and for the black / clear panel, I used a tacky glue.
TIP : Before sticking, line the panels up so you get an idea of the space between each one.
Now we are on the home stretch with just two small parts left to do.
Firstly, you will need Sue Wilson's Mosaic Bauble Background Die, and just the die with the bauble element.
Cut a piece of Gold Mirror Card and lay it on the tear drop bauble and cut out. You will have to trim this away from the other parts, so take your time.
Once you've cut this out, glue to the top of the middle panel using tacky glue.
For the sentiment, use your Versamark Embossing Pad on the Stamp from the Festive Panel Stamp Set and press onto a piece of left over black card.
Sprinkle with Cosmic Shimmer Detail Bright Gold Embossing Powder and heat.
Cut the sentiment out, and stick onto some Gold Mirror Card using Double Sided Tape and cut a thin border. Add the sentiment to the bottom of the middle panel and you are done!
