Hello Lovely Crafters....

This week we are going to be making the card above, using the Stamp set ‘Paris Postcard’ by Francoise Read, and Sue Wilson's Herringbone Background Die included in the November Bundle.

To begin with, we need to create our Paris postcard panel, so take an A4 sheet of the new Matt Black Smooth Satin Card and cut it in half.

Place this on your Stamping Platform and give the card a good wipe over with your

Woodware Magic Anti-Static Pad.

Now stamp out the Paris postcard image onto the card using a VersaMark Ink Pad - (you should be able to see it quite clearly, because it’s on matt card). See my photo below.

  • TOP TIP - I highly recommend using a Stamping Platform for projects like this, as it prevents your stamps from slipping, and also allows you to restamp in the exact same position if you need to add more ink).

Now place this card on a piece of copy paper and open up your Cosmic Shimmer Mica Pigment Powders. Here you will need Graceful Mustard, Frosty Mink and Copper.

Take a fine paintbrush, and gently pick up the mica pigments and dab (do not brush) onto the ink. Don’t wipe the powder away, just leave it there until you’ve finished.

I started with the Frosty Mink, then work your way through the colours of your choice.

Use my pictures to help you - work with one colour at a time, and you will find that the colours mix around edges.

Once you are happy and have finished applying the powders, get yourself a fan shaped soft brush to carefully remove the excess powder. I used a large soft fan shaped make up brush for this, which worked perfectly. Don’t keep brushing or you can remove the powder.

Next, spray your image with hairspray to set the mica powder in place; you should find it dries very quickly. Now you can trim around the edge like mine (shown in the second picture).

Now for the card base... this will be an 8x8 White Card Blank.

Using the same stamp set and a Black Archival Ink Pad, stamp around the edges of the card.

This doesn’t need to look perfect, just have fun creating. As you can see on mine, I never know where I’m going with something until it starts to come together.

For the next step, we need to get a couple of pieces of silver mirror card and engrave it with our Herringbone Background Die.

This is a technique used by Jamie, and a video tutorial on how to do this is available on his YouTube Channel. Here is the link - Jamie Rodgers Top Tips - Engraving Technique With Craft Dies.

Once you have done this, trim around this closely.

Now it's time to construct our card....

Take a sheet of Antique Copper Pearl Foundations Card and mat this behind the engraved herringbone piece. Then to add some texture and detail, get a small piece of lace and stick it behind the top and bottom of your matt and layers (see my photos).

Make a little double tail at the bottom and attach it with hot glue.

Now finish your matting and layering behind this with a piece of Mercury Silver Oakwood Pearl Card, and Antique Gold Pearl Foundations Card. The whole panel is then stuck on the card as seen.

Next mat your 'Paris' panel with Antique Gold Pearl Foundations Card and then place it on the card at a angle with foam roll (as seen).

To finish, stamp out the Butterfly from the corner of your Woodware Paris Stamp, again using VersaMark. Dust with Cosmic Shimmer Graceful Mustard Mica Pigment and then spray with hairspray. Once dry, cut out shape then stick in the top corner.

I rummaged in my button tin for some extra embellishments. You can find a range of buttons at Craftmania - Shop Decorative Buttons. Glue these using hot glue to secure.

My sentiment is from Creative Expressions Wordies 'Inspirational' Sentiment Pack.

I've stuck this onto Antique Copper Card and placed on the card with foam pads.

It was tricky to photograph this card and do it justice, so I’ve done two so you can see it in different lights.

Do go and have a play with the Cosmic Shimmer Mica Pigment Powders they are great fun ~ it’s like magic painting.....

It's been lovely to see you all sharing your makes with us on our Facebook Group. If you haven't yet, then go to Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Have a fantastic week

Lynn x
