Hello lovely Crafters.....
Welcome to the weekend....
Did you know there are only 12 weeks left until Christmas?
Well it's the 1st October today, so I thought I would just throw that little reminder in there for you lol.
With that in mind... Octobers' new 'Hand Picked By Jamie' Bundle finally here!!
After concentrating on Christmas makes for a while now, it is so refreshing to get my creative hands on this kit. I promise you are in for a real treat when you see what products are in there.
In fact, I would go as far as saying, that I know some of you crafty peeps will be jumping for joy when you see the beautiful DRAGONFLY...
If you've not yet checked out the Bundle, go and have a look...
There’s an absolutely stunning frame die set, along with flowers, papers, stamps and lost more!
As always, you can find the Shopping List for my project at the bottom of the page.
So let's get cracking.....
Today we are going to create all of our components to create the detail for our card, so
it's time to get those Pixie Powders out!!!
Now here you have the option to either search your craft room for those "backgrounds" you've hoarded away, or you can have some fun and make some new ones :-)
If you are like me, and get carried away, then you will have a few (or hundreds) somewhere lol.
Today, I have used two backgrounds which I made earlier using Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders in the following colours :-
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Candy Pink
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Bronze Blush
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Rich Gold
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Mango Blaze
For my second sheet, I used these colours :-
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Ancient Copper
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Scarlet Mist
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Aubergine Dream
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders - Plum Twist
Once you've created these, set them aside to dry as we will use these a little later.
For the second part of the card we will be making the frame element, so you will need your Distress Oxide Ink Pads and Sue Wilson's Frames & Tags Roxy Die Set from your Bundle.
Take a sheet of white card and simply swipe your Distress Oxide Ink Pads in Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Abandoned Coral across it. Similar colour shades tend to blend quite well together, and they create a sort of like ombré effect. You may use a blending brush if you find this works better for you.
Once you have your coloured card, you need to cut out both your Creative Expressions Roxy Frame Die.
To create your dragonfly, you are then going to cut the top detail die from Sue Wilson's Triple Layered Dragonfly Die from the orange card. Then using your purple Pixie Powder sheet which you made earlier, cut out the base (solid shape) of the dragonfly.
Now onto my flowers....
Using Sue Wilson's Petite Dianthus Flower Die Set, I cut out a selection in both orange and purple.
I always cut out more than I need, as it is quicker and easier to have spares if I need them later on!
Make up your flowers by shaping them, and then gluing them together.
Do the same to construct your dragonfly
TOP TIP - To shape you flowers, you can either use tweezers, or an Embossing Tool to round / curve the leaves.
For the next step, we are going to make our card base.....
Take a 6x4" Scalloped Edge Card Blank - position your the ombré Roxy Frame onto it.
Now you will need to choose a sentiment from Phill Martin's Bohemian Stamp Set.
Here I used "Always Be True To Your Dreams" as I felt that fitted into the centre space perfectly.
For the next part, you will need your Stamping Platform.
Line up your card in the Platform, and pick up the stamp inside the lid.
Once you are happy it is in the correct place, ink your stamp with your purple Archival Ink Pad.
(Archival Inks are available both individually, and in Mini Ink Kits which are great for trying out new colours). Stamp your sentiment onto your card and then glue the frame around it.
TOP TIP - I must have had a fibre on my stamp here, which is annoying but it happens to the best of us. So for best results, clean your stamps after using them. I would also recommend using a Woodware Magic Anti-Static Pad to clean surfaces before stamping.
Now that you have made your flowers up, position and glue them into the top right hand corner, and tuck in some additional swirly purple bits for that extra detail.
Place some trimmed down Foam Pads under the body of the made up dragonfly, and adhere to your card (as seen in the photo below).
To finish, I always like to add a bit of bling or sparkle so here I've used some gems in the flowers and also one on the dragonfly. You can of course add more if you wish... I just wanted to keep this one simple.
This one is a pretty easy card to follow and make, and this is the magic of the 'Hand Picked By Jamie' Bundles... you can make them as simple or as intricate as you want!!
I look forward to joining you again soon... I have lots more ideas to share with you :-)
Let us know how you get on with October's new Kit, and share your makes on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.
Enjoy your week
