Jamie Rodgers Festive Collection ~ Tree treats by Lynn Lewis.

Have you ever wondered if you can do more with your dies?

Well you can with some of them so let’s read on and find out.

Step 1

Take Jamie Rodger’s festive collection Christmas stocking die set and the pack of 10 sheets of felt then choose the base colour of your stocking and cut 2 plain ones then pick the colour for the pattern piece and cut one.

I found to cut them out on my electric Gempora machine I needed to place the metal shim under the plastic and magnetic sheet then placed my die facing up with the felt next then a piece of card.

The stocking bases went through forward and reverse once and the patterned ones went through forward and reverse twice .

It actually embossed the felt as you will see .

Please check with your machines though as they are all different.

Step 2

Cut a white felt stocking top, just place enough on the top of the stocking die - you don’t need the whole thing.

Step 3

Take one of your stocking bases and with a little glue lightly stick the patterned stocking to the plain base.

Don’t stick glue on the edges though, just in the centre, and not too much or it will soak through as it did on one of mine, it’s only to held it in place and you need to get a needle through the edges, it's a little harder going through glue as well lol .

Next, stick the white stocking top on the top of the patterned one, again not near the edges.

Step 4

Now I’m not the greatest at hand sewing but I gave it a go and they stayed together lol .

So get a needle and white thread plus the piece you have just made and sew it to the other base piece with small stitches all round leaving the top open of course .

Next, take a small loop of ribbon and sew that into the stocking as seen .

The die for the loop was too thin to cut fabric so I thought this was the next best thing .

Step 5

Finish your stocking with a name, I used Jamie Rodger’s Sentiment collection alphabet and numbers die set.

I cut out the upper case letters in white card and don’t be afraid to snip bits off them if you want, I’m sure Jamie won’t mind .

I coloured my letters with alcohol markers and glued them onto my stocking tops with cosmic shimmer dries clear glue.

If you don’t want to add names, you could get some fake fur ribbon, that would look nice.

So that’s your stocking made now all you have to do is fill it with chocolates and make some more.

As a thought, if you have a sewing machine you could quite easily run a lot of these up for a Christmas craft fair.

Have fun

Lynn x

Thank you so much for this. I’m sure I’ve got some small felt squares somewhere so I’ll have a search for them. Mine probably won’t look half as good but it‘ll be a fun project to try.
