Hello All.....
This beautiful old fashioned stamp got me reminiscing about how our Winters' used to be....
I made mine into a Christmas card, however I think it would look it would look equally as nice in a picture frame, don't you?!
STAMPING
▪️I stamped out my image using Jet Black Archival Ink on Foundations Coconut White
Card (315 gsm).
▪️I then coloured the image using Wendy Vecchi's Make Art Ink Pads, on a Blending Mat and with a Water Brush, in the following colours :-
1️⃣ Acorn
2️⃣ Carnation Red
3️⃣ Fern Green
4️⃣ Peat Moss
5️⃣ Watering Can
6️⃣ Tea Rose
7️⃣ Pink Peony
▪️I didn’t colour all of my image, I just picked out some key elements like in an old photograph.
I coloured some of the branches of the big tree, and the fence with Acorn Ink.
I also highlighted parts of the ground, and cottage with Watering Can Ink, and some of the small evergreen shrubs with Peat Moss Ink.
▪️For the little girls' coat and hat, I used Carnation Red, and for the lady I chose Acorn on her skirt and Fern Green for her jacket and hat. I mixed Pink Peony and Tea Rose for the faces.
DECORATING ▪️Next, I applied some Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff in white, to the big tree branches, trunk, fence plus a little for the Pom Pom on the beret of the child. I wanted to make it look realistic and also add some dimension....
Once you've applied your Fluffy Stuff, use a Heat Tool to create your "fluffiness."
✅ Don’t do this too near to the edge of the card, as you need to stick a frame on with pads.
🎥 Check out Jamie Rodgers YouTube Video to see Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff in action -
▪️Now take some Iced Snow and Diamond Sprinkles - Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Jewels.
Apply these around the snowy bits on the ground and the roof of the cottage with
Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue.
FRAMING
Next I wanted to frame my card, so set about finding dies to fit.... as you can see, I had to play around with mine a little and cut a small piece off the side the people are on.
▪️Using Sue Wilson's Noble Decorative Squared Rectangle Craft Die Set and Noble Double Stitched Rectangles (Set B), I cut out a backing to the image using Foundations Silver Mirror Card.
✅ The size for squared rectangle is the one that measures 15cm x 11.5cm when cut out with the surrounding rectangle frame measuring 15.5 x 12.5cm when cut out.
▪️Then I used two double stitched rectangles to the make a thin frame using Craftmania's
Frosted Silver Foil Card. The outer frame size measured 13 x 10cm, then using the next size die down to fit into it to cut the frame.
▪️Now take some foam roll/tape and cut thin strips, and stick onto the back of the thin frame.
Add glue as well to ensure it is secure!
▪️Trim your stamped image out to fit behind the frame, and place some glue around the edges before sticking your frame on. See my pictures to guide you.
▪️Here I used more foam tape on the back and stuck it on the sliver background piece that was matted with some black card. I then stuck mine onto a 7x7 card blank across the middle.
▪️To finish, I cut out a few holly leaves from Creative Expressions Festive Collection - Pine and Holly Spray Die Set in Silver Mirror Card. I glued them under the top corners, with red pearls on the frame and finished with a black "Festive Wishes" sentiment from Jamie Rodger’s Pierced Collection with a couple of red pearls as seen.
Such an easy card to make, and really brings your creative and nostalgic side out :-)
If we have inspired you, we'd love to see your Nellie Snellen projects - share them on our
