Nellie Snellen Design Team Spotlight ~ Winter Retreat By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania

Hello Fellow Crafters!

Hope you are enjoying our latest Design Team Spotlight, and maybe treating yourself to some of these fantastic stamps šŸ˜

ā–ŖļøFor my card I used a C5 white card base (or an A4 sheet scored in half).

ā–ŖļøTake Presscut's Rectangle Plain Nesting Die Set and cut the first layer in Oakwood Bronze Card.

Now take a sheet of Foundations Coconut White Card, and use the next sized down die to cut your card. Continue using 3 dies down from the last, place this centrally onto your white card and run back through your machine. This will create your frame for your image.

ā–ŖļøNow using the next die down from the inside frame, size and cut this out using the inner piece that came from the frame. This will be your piece to stamp your image onto.

ā–ŖļøToday I have chosen Winter Scene Snowy Landscape Stamp from Nellie Snellen lovely range.

āœ… Rub Woodware's Magic Anti-Static Pad over the white card to prepare your area for stamping.

ā–ŖļøMount your stamp onto a stamping block (or use a Stamping Platform).

Tap over lightly with an embossing ink pad such as VersaMark, Perfect Medium or Tsukineko.

āœ… Ensure you get a good impression of the whole image - this is where Stamping Platforms are invaluable as you can re-stamp precisely over an area.

ā–ŖļøLay your stamped image onto a scrap sheet of paper and sprinkle with Cosmic Shimmer Detail Copper Embossing Powder. Lift and tap off any excess back into your pot (there shouldn't be any due to using the Anti Static Pad).

āœ… Use a soft paintbrush to remove any loose powder before heat embossing.

ā–ŖļøBring back your image and place on a Heat Resistant Mat; using a heat tool gently move around the image until you see the powder melt. If this is the first time you've done this... it's magical to watch!!!

ā–ŖļøNow you can put your embossed image into the centre of the frame.

Decorating Our Frame

ā–ŖļøUsing Copper mirror card or non shedding glitter card, cut out Poinsettia - Creative Expressions Open Poinsettia Die Set is ideal....

ā–ŖļøNext I used Sue Wilson's Festive Foliage Pieces Die Set and cut out a selection in Gold Mirri Card With the holly in the top left of the frame, I decided to cut out the berries in copper mirri to make it stand out. Glue all elements to the frame as desired.

ā–ŖļøFor my sentiment, I chose a Creative Expressions Christmas Wordie, however I also experimented with some foil as the white sheets in these sets can be used in a filing machine.

ā–ŖļøI laid a sheet of gold foil on top of my sentiment and then used my heat tool on top; stopping at intervals as it will melts the sheet. I rubbed over the top in between heat settings a sheet of kitchen roll to help press the foil in. I had a few little gaps, so I used a copper ink pen to finish it off.

Add the sentiment to the card with foam pads.

I hope this has give you a few ideas to give it a go.... makes a beautiful vintage card for that special person.

Thank is for joining me, and I look forward to seeing you again shortly.

Happy Crafting!

Ian x
