Hello All....
I'm back again with one of my favourite cards I've made so far using the Funky Foam.....
Before this week, I can’t remember the last time I used foam, but it was never this much fun....
You are probably thinking it is great for crafting with the kids - true - but there is so much more you can do!! With dies being so much better quality these days, there are so many options.
Step 1
Using Jamie Rodgers Festive Collection - Santas Sleigh, cut out the following in your Funky Foam colours :-
▪️ 2 Reindeer - in brown & 2 Reindeer in red
▪️ 1 Sleigh - in red
▪️ 4 Trees - in green
▪️ Parcels - in yellow, purple and orange
▪️ Santa's Sack - in brown
▪️ 2 Star Belts - in yellow
▪️ Reindeer Reins - in black
▪️ 4 Mini Stars - in orange
✅ TOP TIP from Zoe
When die cutting your foam, take a piece of spare card and place it between the foam and your cutting plate / mat. This will prevent impressions from previous cuts on your plates from marking your foam.
I personally quite liked what it did to the reindeer here, but I shall use this next time :))
Step 2
▪️Now take the red reindeer and cut the saddles off and stick them on top of the brown ones.
▪️Glue the mini orange stars to the tree tops.
▪️Now let’s add that bit of sparkle by using some Rangers Stickles... I love these!!
Anything goes here, so this is my combination.... I used
➡️ Holly Green - for the sleigh bottom
➡️ Gold - for the top of the sleigh, on the saddles, stars and sack ties
➡️ Christmas Red - for around the body of the sleigh
➡️ Crystal - for the reigns and the antlers and hooves
➡️ Mix for the trees - crystal on the garland and baubles pink purple blue.
➡️The patches were purple red gold and crystal
✅ Don’t over do it or you will cover up the lovely embossed details.
Note - Ignore the candy canes I want them for something else lol.
Step 4
Make a background.....
▪️I used a white card blank (21 x 10cm) - this size is called a DL
▪️With my Blending Brushes and my Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Ink Pad, I brushed some onto the bottom of the card.
▪️Next blend Wilted Violet Distress Oxide along the centre, and do the same with the Chipped Sapphire along the top (see my photo above).
▪️Now take Distress Ink Black Soot distress ink (NOT oxide) and go over the area very gently.
Then bring in your colours again; this is a dreamy combination for a night sky!!!
How dark you want it is up to you.....
▪️Taking a small spray bottle, spritz water into your hand and flick it all over the card.
Let it do it’s magic for a couple of minutes, and then take a cloth or kitchen roll and dab it dry if it isn’t already.
Then take a white gel pen and dot some stars all over; add some twinkles using Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Twinkles.
Step 5
While waiting for Rangers Stickles and the background to dry, cut out the letter 'H' and 'O' in white Funky Foam 3 times using Jamie Rodgers Alphabet and Numbers Die Set.
✅ TIP - You don’t need to cut the whole die plate out - just pop a bit of foam over the letters you want as seen here. I cut the little squiggly bit from the O.
Step 6
Assemble the card.....
▪️First stick the trees evenly along the bottom of the card.
▪️Then place the reindeer (as seen on mine) fitting the sleigh in between the two trees at the end.
✅ Make Sure you stick the sack and pressies in before you stick the sleigh right down.
▪️Lastly, add all the reins and stars as seen and the stick "HO HO HO" in between the trees to finish.
What a fab cards you can make with this Funky Foam...also great if you don’t like colouring in dies. Perfect for giving dimension, texture and brilliant detail on the die cuts too, and not to mention the beautiful colours - plus it shouldn't cost extra to post!!
