Ok, so maybe it's just me, but I have never really given much thought to layering my die cuts over stamped images before. I have often felt the two don't share enough in common to be put on the same project in this way. However, my addiction to Creative Expressions French Marigold Die Set gave me this idea....
If I was to heat emboss over my die cut and then stamp my images, the two would co-ordinate enough in order that I could happily layer them!
You can find all of the products I've used at the bottom of this page. To begin with, I stamped my image (shown here using the Designer Boutique Dazzling Sunflower Stamp Set.
One aspect I really like about this technique, is that a sunflower may be slightly limited to certain projects. However by bringing in floral dies to lay over the top of your image, you can create so many more options / themes.
Now here it is with the 3D - French Marigolds layered over the top.
This technique not only saves you die cutting / owning lots of different styles of foliage, but it also means you can have more variations and possibly more details without adding more bulk to your creation!! If you are not into heat embossing, don't worry... the same effects can be achieved by using one colour of ink...
For this project I have used Designer Boutique's Blooming Day Stamp Set.
Or maybe you wish to play with some background techniques...
I felt this is a technique/style that could really lend itself to so many projects.
I hope you enjoy playing with it, and please don't forget to share your creations with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania and Jamie Rodgers Jamie -x-
