Hello Crafters .
Today I’m showing you how I made Jamie's Birthday card, full of heat embossed elements.
So first you need to cut the Moroccan Scalloped Lattice Background from the Wings of Wonder collection.
I used Creative Expressions coconut white foundations card 315gsm through out .
Next cut two cherry Blossom flower & Flourish corner dies and three grand dragonflies .
From the Noble stitched squares die set B cut out three frames by using the second and third smallest dies .
Then cut out three squares with just the third smallest die .
While you are cutting your dies do the sentiment as well, I used Sue Wilson's ‘Happy Birthday to an amazing friend' but if you wish to use a different one that’s fine .
Now we are going to emboss all the elements.
First, take your three Moroccan lattice backgrounds placed on a piece of copy paper and with a versamark ink pad, Pat it all over the die cuts change to a clean piece of paper so you don’t waste your powders and then sprinkle with Detail Ancient Copper embossing powder as seen in the pictures and heat with your heat gun and set these aside .
Now do the corner pieces and the square frames the same, but for these only - double emboss them(to do this when you’ve done the first emboss, Pat with the versamark pad again and add more powder and reheat)
Next, take your Grand Dragonflies and with Detail Black embossing powder double heat emboss. Then with your chosen sentiment, colour with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and emboss with clear embossing powder .
I hope the pictures help .
Now take your Moroccan lattice backgrounds and glue a square frame to them but at a diamond angle as seen in the pictures and when stuck cut them out and keep all the scrap bits as they come in very handy for more mixed media projects.
Now let’s start to build the card .
Take an 8x8 card blank and mat a piece of Antique Gold Pearl foundation card onto it .
Next take a sheet of textured black leather look card and with Chocolate Bronze gilding polish wipe it over the card as seen in the pictures .
Now cut & mat and stick onto the card .
Next stick your corners down as seen .
With your plain white squares colour these with Peeled Paint Distress Ink using a blending brush then place them down diamond way up and stamp Sam Poole's French script on them with Archival ink Potting Soil .
Now place foam pads on the underside of your lattice frames .
Next, as you can see in the pictures, stick your Peeled Paint stamped diamonds onto the card directly then stick padded lattice frames on top (I always add a bit of glue into the pads too ).
With your embossed Grand Dragonflies back them with something iridescent.
I was lucky enough to have some blue fantasy film from way back in my stash, it’s like a cellophane .
You could use sweet wrappers which you can colour with Alcohol pens or back them with some acetate coloured with Crystal tints, anything that the light will shine through and then stick your dragonflies on as you can see .
To finish your card stick your sentiment on and add gold gems to the corners and some blue gems to the dragonflies
I like chopping up bits from dies to show you don’t have to use them as a whole piece and with the embossing powders it gives an enamelled look and adds another dimension to the die cuts .
I look forward to seeing more of your makes from the Wings of Wonder collection on Facebook
Until the next time
Take care
