Wings of Wonder Collection by Jamie Rodgers - Moroccan Romance by Ian Rump-Smith

Hello Craftmanians!

Hope you've all been enjoying Jamie's New Wings of Wonder Collection....

Today I am sharing a card with a difference and a first for me on this Blog; a twisted

easel card which brings that bit of majestic sparkle!!

As always the shopping list for the products I have used are at the end of this blog.

I started with a 6x6 card blank to create my card base, creasing the front from top right to bottom left using a Bone Folder. This will act as your stand.

Now cut out a 6x6 square from white card and stick this to your triangle fold on the base card.

See my photos for reference.

DECORATING YOUR CARD

Cut out two 6x6 squares - one in Craftmania's Smouldering Silk red card (base) and one in Smouldering Silk gold card (top). Glue these down using your Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue.

We will be using Double Sided Adhesives Sheets for the next step (if you haven't used these before, then you are in for a treat... so many possibilities and techniques!!!

▪️Using an A4 sheet, cut out two of the scalloped frames from using your Moroccan Lattice Background Die Set and pop aside.

▪️Now using the same die, take your Dragonfly Trellis Die Set and cut this out inside the frame using your Smouldering Silk Red Card. Set aside.

▪️Repeat with the same frame but this time with the Moroccan Lattice Background and in Smouldering Silk Gold Card.

Now (one at a time), peel back the top layer of the carrier sheet on the cut scalloped frame just a little, and then with your gold lattice frame, line up from left hand corner to the right hand.

TIP - Take your time as you only get one shot at this.

Slowly peel more of the carrier sheet back, and line up the frame onto the sticky side.

Once fully covered you can use the carrier sheet to flatten out the frame. DO NOT use your hands because of the sticky areas.

Grab a sheet of copy paper for the next bit and lay your frame on top.

Sprinkle the Cosmic Shimmer Mineral Mica on top and lightly spread using your fingers, covering all the areas between the lattice pattern. Now repeat this process for the red frame. Remove any excess with a Woodware Sponge Applicator.

We now need to stick both of our frames onto our card base, and to do this you just remove the carrier sheet from the back and stick centrally to your card base. Use the same slow process you did when applying the frame.

Now for my favourite part, and where the card comes together.... decoration time!!

Using a deep red coloured card, cut out six flowers (24 layers) using the Cherry Blossoms Die Set, and using some Treasure Gold Metallic Gilding Polish / or Gilded Touch, add detail to the end of the petals. Mould each flower onto a foam pad with an Embossing Tool and then glue together.

I cut little gold stamens from the set to go in the centre of each flower.

Next, using same die set, cut out four leaves and four flowers from Foundations Gold Mirror Card.

Take your Cherry Blossom Flower & Flourish Corner Die Set and cut the corner (seen in the above photo) three times using Craftmania's Gold Silk Mirror Card. Glue all layers together and this will be your stopper for your card.

I then used the same card to cut two layers of the Grand Dragonfly Die. I glued these together on the spine only. Slightly mould the wings using a pencil.

Now using the photo as a guide, start gluing all your elements to the card (or decorate as you wish).

Choose a sentiment of your choice, and some small gems for the stopper and finishing touches.

And that is your card complete.... I would love to see your interpretation of this card, and makes with Jamie's Collection on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Until next time take care all

Ian x
